Winton

The small community of Winton has made quite a name for itself.  It's in the middle of dinosaur country, opal mining, and one of its locals wrote the famous song Waltzing Matlida.  We stayed at the North Gregory Hotel.  It provides camp sites in the back.  A very nice stay, with a bar that provided cold beer and entertainmet!  It's a nice reprieve from the outback!

Behind the hotel is this wacky wall called Arno's wall.  He has constructed it with everything and anything, including the kitchen sink!

Hoss befriended an old opal miner who was staying in his truck with his little dog.

                                        The writer of Waltzing Matlida.
                                          The front of the Gregory!
