The Great Outback!!

We just spent 10 days in the Australian outback just to see Ayers Rock.  The outback  is a vast place!!  We had very little internet, so contact with the outside world was limited.  The heat was intense averaging around 40 degrees Celcius, and evenings were no better!  It was a bit unbearable at times with a heat wave, flies, mosquitoes, and no radio stations.  Driving the outback is incredibly boring.  There are no houses, and very few communities that are hundreds of kilometers apart.  It is a dangerous place to be, and  I can see why hundreds of people go missing each year to never be seen again.  They just found a young man who went missing mid-December.  He went off road into the desert, got stuck and while gathering deadfall to place under his tires to get some traction, he was bitten by a snake and died!  But, it is a beautiful place with varied landscapes, but I sure wouldn't want to live there.

No worries!  Hoss's feet, I am driving!
