Chinese New Year

Thais celebrate the calendar and Lunar New Year.  I was expecting a great big celebration, because when we were in Vietnam there were huge preparations for the Lunar New Year with fancy decorations, and huge plans for parties.  We were told to stay because it would be so much fun, but we had a schedule to follow, it's called visas!!

The Thais shot off a bunch of firecrackers the day before the Chinese New Year, and then there were some dragon dances.  I haven't seen any elaborate decorations, or any parties.  We caught a bit of the dragon dance... somewhat interesting.  It starts with a small child preforming with a dragon, then moves on to older boys with a larger dragon, then finishes off with the large dragon, that snorts out flames.  We watched the final dragon dance on TV.
