Our day trip took us as far as Rotorua. It is a thermal area that spouts geyers, has steaming hot springs, and exploding mud pools, and reeks of sulfur. We have seen all this at a much grander scale in Yellowstone National Park, so we weren't too keen on any of the costly and time consuming tours. We snooped around, had a picnic lunch at the lake's water front, and visited a flee market.
The information Center is house in a beautiful building.
We tried to book a tour on the duck bus which goes on land and water, but it was full.
A fancy carved motorcycle at the flee market.
Lake Rototua water front.
The museum was closed. It is structurally unsound in case there is an earthquake. But it is a beauty!
