Griffiths Gardens is a new pop-up garden that can be found in the downtown area of Auckland. It's purpose it to educate the public about bees, and how to create Auckland into the safest city in the world for bees. The garden has planter boxes that are utilized during workshops, a tool shed to hold all equipment, a plant nurser, seating, picnic tables, and play equipment. Classes are held every Thursday from 12-2pm. People are invited to join in the workshop for as much time as 10 minutes or the whole two hour session. Individuals and local groups are also able to schedule small-scale activities such as yoga, group meetings, dance, craft or writing workshops, or chess. There is also a community fridge which is a pilot project until Christmas. Donors can place unwanted food items in the fridge for others to make use of.
