Greymouth is the largest west coast town, but it held little interest for us. We drove around, checked out a couple of art galleries, and a craft beer restaurant. What did interest us was the Transalpine passenger train which is one of the world's great train journeys, traversing the Southern Alps between Greymouth and Christchurch, from the Tasman Sea to the South Pacific Ocean, but unfortunately no booking were available.
We drove out to a huge jetty hoping for something interesting to see, but we only saw this guy catch a fish.
