Seal Colony

While in Westport there is a seal colony down the road about 15 minutes in the Tauranga Bay. Depending on the what time of year the fur seal colony has numbers up to 200. We could only see few and the rocks they like to lie in help to camouflage them. But, the sea they love to live in is wild and frothy!

This curious bird is called a weka.

The wind was so strong that is was difficult to take a steady picture!
