Vienna, Austria

The Monarch Governess's next stop was Vienna. We took the city tour, then were left to explore on own for the rest of the afternoon.

Vienna's history which dates back to the first century, is known for its collage of Baroque archecture, magnificent, imperial buildings, parks and vineyards, the Opera House, Gothic cathedrals, palaces, and museums. Present day, it is now Austria's capital city, and has a rich artistic and intellectual legacy which was shaped by residents including classical muscians Mozart, Beethoven, and the world's first psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud.

Vienna's horse stables, house the world famous Lipizzaner Stallions, who trace their lineage back to the 1500's. The famous riding school only uses the stallions for performances

Vienna has fabulous shopping. This store will fit men and women for custom shoes.

                                               St. Stephen's Cathedral

Vienna has conquered its garbage problem. This building is in the center of the city and incinerates trash into a resource that keeps hundreds of thousands of people warm in the winter. I think this idea is brilliant. I've heard Germany also uses this method of waste management. I wish Canada would use this technology.
