Budapest, Hungary

Budapest is the capital city of Hungary. It is split in two by the Danube River, the hilly side is Buda and the flat side is Pest. Buda and Pest used to be two separate cities until they united in the 1870's.

Buda, at one time was the capital city of Hungary. It is now the Old Town in Budapest, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It lies on Castle Hill high on the banks of the Danube River, and plays host to caves, classical buildings, and churches. It is a charming district.  We found a small bakery that makes the best strudel. We experimented with cherry, and poppyseed. In my opinion, the poppyseed strudel was divene! I might just have to learn how to make it.

                                             The Philosopher's Garden

The cluster of sculptures were created in 1997 by Hungarian sculper, Nandor Wagner. This circle depicts what Wagner saw as the five founders of the major religions: Abraham, Jesus, Buddha, Laozi( a Chinese Taoist philosopher) and Akhenaten( he developed an ancient Eygptian religion).
