Train Travel and Sites

We love train travel because you get to see so much of the country, and you also get to meet a lot of people!  An Aussie sitting across from us was heading to Malaysia for a visa run.  He has been cycling for a few months throughout Asia.  While cycling along the Laos/Thai border he had a crash which rendered him unconscious, was found by Laos military, and transported to a Bangkok hospital where they discovered his skull fractured.  He spent two weeks in the hospital.  Fortunately, he was taken to a very good hospital.  I have heard only good things about the Bangkok Hospitals (Bangkok Phuket Hospital, Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, etc).  I also spoke to a French Canadian in Jomtien who experienced a perforated bowel, and had fantastic treatment at the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.
