Sandy took us to a temple called Pura Luhur Ulu Watu that is located on top of a cliff, on the southwestern tip of the peninsula. Ulu Watu is one of several important temples to the spirits of the sea along the south coast of Bali. In the 11th century the Javanese priest Empu Kuturan first established a temple here. The temple has since been added on to by another Javanese priest named Nirartha.
