Malacca City, Malaysia
Malacca is a state and a city. We went to visit the historic city which is located on the mouth of the Malacca River, on the Straits of Malacca, which was once a very important trading post. The historical city center, was deemed as a UNESCO World heritage Site in 2008. Old town is divided into two parts, one side of the river is Dutch, the other Chinese. We stayed on the Dutch side which is much quieter, than the lively, bustling, very interesting Chinese side. Centuries of vigorous conquests and maritime trade are now distant memories. But the last decade has seen Malaka capitalize on its swashbuckling history, asserting itself as one of Malaysia's most irresistible tourist draws.
