The village of Gundaroo is a stunning example of a living history with today's modern lifestyle. It has a wonderfully preserved history in many of its buildings and is a unique modern community. A personal example is the ability to get a strong wifi connection. I was having trouble earlier in the day in the larger community of Goulburn, the first inland town. No matter what I did I could not pick up wifi. I tried the library, I then tried McDonalds(Mackers), to no avail. We then come to Gundaroo, a tiny village, and viola, a very strong wifi connection. I was a happy camper!! Gundaroo has many historic buildings that are still in use today, The distinctive corner Royal Hotel has become one of the regions most acclaimed restaurant called Grazing. Many of its rooms still feature the character of 1865 with five fireplaces to warm diners. We had a beer at the Star Saloon Bar, which is now also a relaxing restaurant with acclaimed smoked meats, local wines and fine beers. Quality coffee and pizza is served at the Cork Street Cafe, once used as the local police stables and lockup. The local park, where we stayed, offers free camping. It also is a venue for cricket, soccer, and the town's October Music Festival. We enjoyed Gundaroo, so much we stayed two nights.
Historic buildings of Goulburn, these are only a few.
