Funny Lingo!

Even though we are in an English speaking country we are having trouble understanding the Aussies when they speak to us.  I have always had trouble understanding anyone with a strong accent, and now there is the lingo I need to deal with.  Many times when Aussies speak to us we look at each other in bewilderment wondering what they just said.  It's their quick way of speaking, the pattern of their speech, the accent, and their crazy lingo!  For example, mossies are mosquitoes,  chooks are chickens, a footpath is a sidewalk, a car park is a parkade, a lid is a roof, a car ping is a car crash, and Mackers are Mcdonald's, but the funniest so far are budgie smugglers...that refers to men's speedos.  We howled with laughter, only because Hoss loves to wear speedos.  So put on your budgie smugglers and let's go to the beach!
