Our Australian Family

Our flight to Australia was uneventful and relatively short. Within 5 hours of take-off we were landing in Perth. Our son picked us up and delivered us to his family home.We had a good night's sleep and well rested for the next day!

The next day was a wonderfully warm. We spent it outside and in the pool.

Our grandson Wyatt who is a little fish! Baby Booker was sleeping.

Our son Catlin and his beautiful wife Jess.

Their dog, Caesar, also enjoys the pool.

A delicious meal in the backyard with our Aussie family!

See You Later Beautiful Singapore

The long all day wait in our hotel for our 18:30 flight to Australia. We call it travel purgatory. We stole this term from our son!

Dinner at Robertson Quay

We couldn't resist revisiting this area before we left for Australia, so we decided to have an Italian supper at one of the restaurants.

Robertson Quay

Robertson Quay used to be one of the three largest wharfs, on the Singapore River. In the 1800's, the warehouses and wharfs, were built in European and Chinese style. It is currently an urban area filled with restaurants, pubs, cafes, condos, offices, and recreational facilities.

With its eclectic mix of international restaurants and alfresco dining, wine bars, art houses, hotel cafes and high class condos, Robertson Quay has become a popular destination for locals.

                                      Tiger beers again!

The Big Bus Sites in Singapore

The Big Bus is a hop-on-hop-off vehicle. Customers have two options, the red line, or the yellow line. Because we went on the red line on our previous trip to Singapore, we bought tickets for the yellow line. We often take these buses on arrival in a new location because it gives us a quick overview of the city, and we can hop off and on to explore something of interest to us.

This ride is called the Singapore Flyer

This fabulous hotel is the Marina Bay Sands. Maybe we'll stay here one day! It's frightfully expensive!

These structures are solar-powered super trees located at Gardens by the Bay. This imposing canopy varies between 25 to 50 meters high. The man-made mechanical forest is a vertical garden, generating solar power, acting as air venting ducts for nearby conservatories, and also collects rain water.

The four legs of this statue represents the cultural heritage of Singapore being Chinese, Malay, Indian, and multicuture.

Little India, Singapore

Our first night in Singapore, we ate in Chinatown at the food court, which has tons of options, actually too many to choose from, but we did settle on a noodle and wonton soup. It was such a huge bowl that I could only eat half of it. And, of course we drank Tiger beer. I was exhausted from the long flight over the Pacific Ocean and forgot to take my camera! Alas, there are no pictures of Chinatown!!

Our second night, we opted for a meal in Little India. We ordered chicken masala, rice and paan. Our meal was very tasty and filling.

The market here is every bit as good as the market in Zihuatanjeno, Mexico.

The naan bread is cooking. There are balls of dough waiting to be flattened by hand and then slapped to the side of this large cooking vessel. Hoss chose the cheese flavoured naan, I opted for the garlic.

Gardens By The Bay Conservatories

The Gardens by the Bay is a nature park spanning 250 acres in the center region of Singapore which is close to the marina. The parks consists of 3 waterfront gardens. The conservatory complex at Gardens by the Bay comprises two cooled conservatories...the Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome which is the largest glass greenhouse in the world.

We only focused on the conservatories with this trip because our time here was short, and on our previous visit to Singapore we explored the other gardens which are absolutely fabulous.

There are two domes like this one. The first one we visited was the Cloud Forest. I'm thinking the avatar theme was included for families.

                                                   The Flower Dome was next.
