New Suit

Thailand has thousands of tailors!!  While we were in Jomtien, Brian, our friend, gave us the name of a reputable tailor who was located just down the street from where we were staying.  So off we went to meet this fellow.  We were impressed by his professionalism, and workmanship!  Hoss was measured up, a fitting was scheduled a couple days later, and the finished product was in his hand five days later.  Hoss left the shop a happy camper, with a shirt, tie and suit!

Kiss

Supper, breakfast, or lunch can be had at the Kiss Restaurant.  It is located right across the street from our condo, next to the market.  You can order a deliciouos meal for around $3-$4.

Cheers Bar

American name but Canadian owned!  We had a couple here!

Geno and Brian, a Canadian friend of ours that has lived in Jomtien the past 9-10 years, are checking out the dried squid, while we were having a beer at Cheers.

Jomtien Beach

We have been to nicer beaches!  Jomtien is marred with murky water, and is in need of garbage cans!!  The beach and water seems to be a bit cleaner than the last time we were here!  Improvements have made, but more are needed!!  In my opinion, Thailand could clean up their act!!!

A relaxing afternoon at Jomtien beach!

Some of my favourite things...freshly squeezed OJ, coconut water, and reading!

My start to another shell collection.  These shells are slightly larger than a pencil eraser.  So cute!
                                           A beautiful wooden sail boat!!

Pattaya's Walking Street

Jomtien is a suburb of the larger city Pattaya, which is a huge, expensive, party town that is packed with all kinds of people.  Anything goes, and people party on Walking Street until the wee hours of the morning.  It's really not our scene, and we are usually home well before midnight reading our books.  But, we had to show Geno and Glenda the sights.

We had supper on Walking Street.  Geno ordered Tom Yam, but was not impressed!

New Man

Hoss has been talking for some time about shaving all his hair off.  One day he got up, went down street to a salon, and came back with a new do!  I quite like it!

Jomtien's Night Market

Three years ago when we were here, Jomtien didn't have a night market.  We were pleasantly surprised when we discovered it.  Always lots of fun, food and shopping!

Tom Yam

Tom yam is a delicious soup that I have grown to love.  It is a Thai soup, usually cooked with shrimp.  Literally, the words: "tom yam" are derived from two Thai words: "tom" and "yam".  "Tom" refers to boiling process, while "yam" refers to a Thai spicy and sour salad.  Tom yam is characterised by its distinct hot and sour flavours, with fragrant spices and herbs generously used in the broth.  The basic broth is made of stock and fresh ingredients such as lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal(looks like ginger root but doesn't taste like it), lime juice, fish sauce, and crushed red peppers.  I am teased for ordering this soup so often!  I am addicted!!

Sunset

We had a beautiful sunset our first night in Jomtien!

First Night Jomtien

After we settled into our condo we went to the busy market which was right across the street for supper.  Lots to choose from!

New Destination...Jomtien, Thailand

Our flight from Koh Samui to Jomtien was relaxing.  We taxied to our accommodations, View Talay Residence 4, located on Soi 5 in Jomtien.  We were happy with our condo, it was spacious, had all the comforts of home, a swimming pool, and a very short walk to anything you need...food, clothing, massage, bar, groceries, the beach, and a view.

Goodbye Koh Samui

Sadly, our adventure in Koh Samui is now over.  While waiting for our flight to Pattaya, which is located about an hour south of Bangkok, we discovered a complimentary lunch...wow...we are lucky to receive water on our domestic flights back home!!

Beach Walk

A lazy afternoon led to a beach walk to check out places we haven't seen.

The water was quite rough today.

There is a place called Memories Sheep Farm.  I was wondering why the grass was so short.

Girls Just want to have Fun!!

We met some crazy British women at the fire party.  They left their husbands and children at home to have a fun extended weekend in Koh Samui.

The Beach Fire Party

The fire party on the beach is always a lot of fun!!  We lucked out the one evening we walked the beach and stumbled onto the fire party.  We found some chairs, ordered some wine/beer, and shesha, sat back and enjoyed the show!!

                                         Glenda bought a sky lantern

I would love to have this tree at the cottage at Crooked Lake.
