Sampam Boat Tour

The Sampam tourist boat toured us around to where the Tanka people live.  The Tankas or boat people have traditionally lived on junks in coastal parts of China.  Many live onshore nowadays, but there are a few who still live on their boats and pursue fishing as a livelihood.  Historically, the Tankas were considered to be outcasts and sometimes referred to as sea gypsies.  A few Tanka people have found their way into the waters of Hong Kong and have made their home there.
