The Outback

The outback is beautiful!  I am not a big fan of deserts but this semi-arid land could capture your heart.  It was very hot...to my standards...maybe not Aussie standards.  The temperature sat at 37 degrees celsius.  Emus and kangaroos dotted the scrubby land.  We were even fooled a couple of times thinking a lake was ahead of us only to discover it was only a mirage.

 This fellow and its mate were on the golf course.  They were eating berries off a tree and hopping up to retrieve them.  It was a funny sight!

 A brilliant idea!!  A drive through bottle store( we call it the liquor board).

 This area has not had rain in over 2 years, but did receive some shortly before we arrived so there was a lot of greenery.
