Our condo is situated on a busy, crazy, touristy street called 5th Avenue, but because we are further north of all the fury, it is much quieter, with small breakfast nooks, bars, shops, restaurants, street vendors, and fewer people milling through the streets. The beach is close by, but because of an ocean cenote just off the beach, it gives off a sulfur scent, (so people have said) which to me smells like sewer. We sat there for only one afternoon, and that was enough! I have seen many cenotes, and swam in a few, mostly fresh water, but have never experienced the sulfur smell. I just hope it is
sulfur and not sewer!
A beautiful beach but at times can be smelly!
A cenote is a natural pit,or sinkhole resulting from the
collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes underground
water beneath. The Yucatan Peninsula has an estimated
7 000 cenotes. They can be found on land or in water.
Nice restaurant.
Right across from our condo a lot is being cleared for more
development.
Our corner.
Small but plentiful produce shop, just north and off 5th Ave.
Tortilla making shop, just down and then up the street.
Breakfast on the quiet part of 5th Ave.
Our car which is parked across the street from our condo.
