Patzcuaro, Michoacan

Patzcuaro is one of the Magical Towns, denoting that it has cultural richness, historic relevance, natural beauty, cuisine and great hospitality. It's altitude lies at 7020 feet, a bit higher than Morelia, which lies at 6299 feet. The mornings in both cities are a bit chilly, but soon warm up with the rise of the sun.

Patzcuaro was founded in the 1320's. This town and the lake region to which it belongs, is well known as a site for Day of the Dead celebrations. It's narrow streets, cobblestone roads, and stone buildings take you back to a long ago time. This town is quaint and enduring! No wonder people come to visit year after year.

Here we are enjoying coffee and a delicious chocolate cake in the warm sunshine.
