New Year's Eve Celebrations

We drove to the small village of Potobello on the Otago Peninsula just north of Dunedin for New Year's supper to a small restaurant called Cafe 1908. It was a lovely place, and served delicious food.

                                                 Hoss had the lamb shank.

After supper, we drove to an area called The Octogon which is the city centre of Dunedin. It is an eight-sided plaza bisected by the city's main street. There is a large New Year's celebration every year hosted in this area with food stalls, live bands, and fireworks. We took in a bit of the celebration, and everyone in attendance seemed to be having a great time, except for one drunk bloke who was hauled away by the coppers!  We left before the fireworks.
