Heading Home

After Trudeau stated that new covid19 rules for travelers would be implemented starting February 22, 2021, we decided to pull the plug and head back home. We were very leary about the quarantine hotel stay, and the amount of money it would cost us. Me, being pretty tight, didn't want to spend the money. So we booked flights home with American Airlines from Zihua via Phoenix to Calgary, with an overnight hotel stay, and flight to Regina the next day. We had our CPR test done at a clinic in Zihua, and had our results emailed to us 36 hours later. We packed up, went out for supper on our last night with new found friends, Wendy and Pat from Alberta. The trip home was long, but thankfully uneventful. Friends of ours had a vehicle waiting for us at the Regina airport, and home we went. With winter still gripping the prairies, we turned up the heat in our house before leaving Calgary, so we were greeted to a warm house, fridge and cupboards stocked with groceries supplied by our daughter-in-law Kelsey, a hot shower, and inviting bed. And that's a wrap to our 2021 travels. Very short, but sweet, filled with great experiences and memories. I'm already planning for the next trip around the world!

Whale Watching

We were invited to share in a whale watching experience, and of course the cost of the boat and captain. We are so thankful to Brian and Jan, new neighbours of Claude and Lynne, who arranged this trip. What a glorious morning!

                                            Our fearless captain!

The beginning of our whale sightings.

                                          This was the first whale.

The second sighting was of a mother and calf breaching. We also spotted two turtles. My pictures are few of this experience, because I used my eyes and shot with the camera randomly so I wouldn't miss the event.

Some shots of the new pier

Playa Principle located just off the pier, where the fishing cooperative keeps its boats.

Majahua Beach

Well, well, well....we discovered a new beach! It's off the old road to Ixtapa, down a bit of an uncertain street, a couple of km out of Zihua, that was in the process of becoming a new subdivision, before the bottom of the project fell out. We are not sure how this all transpired, and maybe we don't want to know. There are unfinished homes that are half completed, streets, cul de sacs, pools, and waterslides left to ruin. But, the beach is the prize at the end of this dilapidated, deserted, wonder. We call it Mystery Beach!

I'm not sure what I was thinking, but I wish I would have taken more pictures of this unfinished development. I was quite shocked by the total abandonment of the area that I quite forgot to capture some photos. But, the beach is quite glorious!

Valentine Supper

Friends of ours, Wendy and Pat, booked reservations at Casa Bahia, a restauarnt on the other side of the pier in La Noria, an area of Zihua. It over looks the bay, and offers delicious food! We had a lovely evening with great people. Happy Valentines Day!

Tunes and A Sunset

We rode over to Rossy's which is situated on Playa La Ropa on our wee scooter to checkout the Saturday night entertainment, and of course to see a spectacular sunset. We had already eaten our supper at home so we ordered a glass of red wine and a dessert to share. Soon after our arrival, fellow pickle ball players arrived with relatives so we found a larger table to accommodated all, and enjoy the evening. And, what a great evening it was!

The bands "Steve's Friends" and "Mdoc", which are well known locally, combined their talents to entertain the Rossy crowd.

Finished off the evening with a beautiful moon.

Lagoon Kayaking

Our friend Tracy, who lives in Barra de Potosi, invited us out for a morning of kayaking. She opted for a fresh water experience instead of the usual lagoon off of Barra's shores which we have kayaked before. Orlando, the kayak guide, met us there and got us all set up. The morning was glorious! The lagoon was glass like, shallow, serene, and played host to a variety of birds.

The tower is where there is an animal refuge.
                                           White pelicans

White ibis, egret, and great egret

                                             Stork

Roseate spoonbill, the prize of the day!

                                           And Tracey's house again!
