Football Game at Shorties

Hoss wanted to watch his two favourite NFL teams, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, battle it out to see who heads to the Superbowl. He chose Shorties restaurant(great food and staff) in Ixtapa to watch the game. We had a fun afternoon, and even I enjoyed the game. Great talent on both teams.

A New View

Zihua Bay view taken from an area called La Noria where we play pickleball.

We are usually sitting on the other side of the bay at the beach.

Birthday Party

Our pickleball coach, Emanuel, turned another year older and hosted a birthday party on behalf  of himself and his friend Victor. The party was held outside, on the top tier of the family property where invited guests who consisted of pickleball players and family gathered.

                                           Two tables of delicious food.

Salsa Ingedients

Our purchase from the street market this morning cost us a whole 19 pesos which is equivalent to $1.20 CA.

The Salty Bitch

There's a small restaurant on Playa La Madera we call The Salty Bitch because of an incident that happened three years ago with a group of our friends. A grouchy patron, who was female, was unhappy with music we were playing, which wasn't loud at all, but she sure was, and so much so, we got up and left, much to the dismay of the owner, who was appreciative of the money we were spending. Later that afternoon, one of our friends referred to the grouchy woman as "that salty bitch". We all had a good laugh, but the name stuck, and we now refer to that particular restaurant as The Salty Bitch.

A couple we play pickle ball with live on this boat for the winter.

The beach is getting quieter and quieter.

Relaxing in the sun, at the Salty Bitch!

Dentist

We found a great dentist, actually 2 dentists, a husband and wife team, located in Ixtapa. We got a cleaning and whitening for $200.00 each. A huge difference in pricing than Canada!

Closing Time For Coconuts

We had an evening out with friends, starting at Brenda's Bar for a drink, then continued on to Coconuts which is a very popular, busy restaurant. Sadly, tonight(January 15), is the last day they will be open for this season because there is no business. They hope to reopen in November. Fingers crossed!

                                             Brenda's Bar

It seems like this small plant is as desperate as the people who live here to eke out an existence.

This lovely restaurant is usually humming with patrons. It seems so strange to see the tables set and ready for customers only knowing there will be none.

This small liquor store is owned by Havier. Many people come to visit, have a seat, and enjoy a beverage.

                                              Havier, a local legend.

Sotovento

Sotovento  is a beachfront property at Playa Ropa that has been in a state of construction for many years and has gone through many owners. Very few condos have been completed, but they are pushing hard for buyers. Sotovento has partnered up with Bandidos restaurant in Zihua, which offers loungers, food and beverages to beach goers, in hope of creating some interest in this never ending condo project. So one afternoon we decided to give Sotovento Beach Club By Bandidos a try. We had a very nice afternoon, with a very charming waiter, but we have no interest in buying a condo in an unfinished building that has proven to be very unsuccessful, even though it's on prime property!

We may have trouble getting home this winter but at least I know which way Calgary is!

My afternoon purchase from the little children who walk up and down the beach selling these cute trinkets.
