Liberia

Liberia is the capital, and largest city of Guanacaste.  It is a small city of about 60,000.  This sunny, rural city serves as a transportation hub connecting Costa Rica with Nicaragua, as well as being the standard- bearer of the Costa Rica's sabanero culture.  A large part of the greater Liberia area is involved in ranching operations.  With an expanding international airport, Liberia is a better option than the airport in San Jose, when wanting to visit the Guanacaste area of Costa Rica.
