Museum Day

The day started out rainy, and only got worse as the day wore on.  With two museums in Oranjestad, we decided to go to both.  The first on is the Museum of Archeology, and the second was Fort Zoutman.

The National Archaeological Museum Aruba has a collection of artifacts that spans from 2500BCE to the 19th century.

                                          Two forms of burial.

                                          Aloe plantation

                                           A cistern.

Fort Zoutman is the oldest building in Aruba.  Unfortunately, there was very little information about the fort.  But, we did learn through other people that there was land reclamation from the sea during the 50's that presently places the fort about two blocks back from the ocean.

                                          The fort is very small.

The museum was exhibiting Aruba's hat making era.
