Friends

Friends of ours from Canada joined us for a couple of weeks. We met Jim and Tanya in Australia in 2015 and have kept in touch ever since.

Pozole Thursday at Santa Prisca

We usually do a pozole Thursday at a restaurant called Santa Prisca once a season. Pozole is a traditional Mexican hominy soup that is served on Thursdays in this area of Mexico. It is a delicious, but heavy soup that I no longer eat, as it doesn't agree with my digestive system. I usually order the tamales, and of course some tequila.

And the dessert man shows up at the end of our meal! Great timing!

Sunday Session at Juan Carlos'

A friend of ours, Juan Carlos, who lives in Zihua often has gatherings on Sunday afternoons. We always have a great time, with some good eats, lots of laughs, and occasionally meet new people. Thanks Juan Carlos for your generous spirit!

Juan Carlos's daughter, Salema, who makes a great avocado pie, which is very similar to key lime pie.

Perogie Afternoon

My girlfriend, Lynne, finally encouraged me to make some perogies with her and Claude and another couple, Jo and Ken. Having left my perogie dough recipe at home, I was able to wrangle up another one from my friends, Sue and Kathy, who live at Playa Larga, a beach that is about a 10 minute drive from Zihua. We had a fun afternoon of pinching and tasting!

We ended the afternoon with a bag full of perogies for each couple, and layer of flour dust in Claude and Lynne's condo. It was a fun afternoon! And the perogies were delicious! I now have a new perogie dough that I will be using from now on!

Fish Store

We have three favourite shops we buy our fish from, and this store is the largest and employs the most people. The first fish stand we discovered is in the covered market and owned by an older couple. The second store is owned by a young family along the canal street close to the ocean. All three shops are spotless!
