Drumheller's Hoodoos

The infamous Drumheller hoodoos are fragile, tall, eroded pillars of sandstone that sit on a thick base of shale topped with a resilient piece of rock top that protects the sandstone. The term hoodoo originates from the African Hausa language and has been incorporated into lore of various First Nations(Blackfoot and Cree people), that contended the Drumheller hoodoos were petrified giants that came to life at night to protect the land.
