Troncones Road Trip

Not too long ago, Troncones was a sleepy little fishing and farming village, which has been transformed into an area where you can find expat homes, B&B's, fancy accommodations, and looks more like a high-end subdivision back home. The surf is wild, and popular with the young surfing crowd.

The day we decided to visit Troncones, we hopped on a collectivo, and sat in the front with the driver, so I could take a few pictures. Our driver spoke English as having lived in Illinois for 4 years, so we were able to have a very pleasant conversation. He asked us questions about our travels, and we asked about his life. As it turned out he knows the man who guarded the crocodiles at Playa Linda when we camped there in 1996. I am sure he was instrumental in keeping our boys safe while we were there. We said to say hi next time he sees him! It really is a small world!

The huge, spacious beach of Troncones

The beach is dotted with small accommodations and beach restaurants.

There is quite a good surf for aspiring surfers.

We had a delicious and expensive breakfast at a fancy place called Present Moment Yoga Retreat which is featured in the next 5 pictures.

A small basic accommodation right on the beach.
