The New Playa Madera

All the little shanties at Playa Madera have been torn down, and replaced with large, beautiful palapas which is a huge improvement for the beach.

Friends From Home

We met up with good friends, Leanne and Larry, who were visiting Zihua for the first time. We had a lovely lunch and then headed to the beach.

Morelia

We said our goodbyes to Tim and Ann as they headed to the coast to visit family in Barra de Navidad, and the six of us made our way to Morelia. Pat and Wendy stayed one more night in Morelia then left for Zihua leaving Claude and Lynne, and Hoss and me to explore the city.

Having drinks at a night club. I can safely say we were the oldest ones there.

All the Christmas lights were turned on the second night we were there....the Christmas season is beginning!

                                          Aren't these two sisters beauties!

A delicious supper in the colonial area of Morelia

                                        Rooftop views and afternoon beers

Morelia's beautiful pink quarry aquaduct was built in 1785. It's 1810 meters long and consists of 253 arches and two water boxes. It brought drinking water into the city which was experiencing a terrible drought for two years. It also provided work for the indigenous people of the region. The aquaduct was functional until 1910.

We upscaled it for accommodations in Morelia.

We ate at this lovely restaurant.

Adictivo and Casa de Oro Tequilla Distilleries

Before saying adios to the town of Tequila we stopped in at two distilleries that make  our favourite tequilas. Adictivo is a bit sweeter than Cava de Oro, but the latter tequila brand has us sold. Both distilleries are owned different brothers of one family. Bothe these distilleries are fancy schmacy places. It's like visiting wineries.

The Adictivo Building looks like a castle!

Casa de Oro

And here are our purchases from our time in Tequila!

Now it's time to say adios! It's been great visiting you, Tequila. I think there maybe a repeat trip in our future! What a great little town!

The Sites of Tequila

Tequila is a small town, and easy to walk around to see what it like.

                                             Church in the square
Jose Cuervo crow, not sure about its significance.

The young woman is celebrating her 15th birthday called quinceanera. It marks the passage from girlhood to womanhood. It's quite a big deal in Mexico.

Tim having a great chat with this local who played a drum in one of the street bands. He was absolutely hilarious! He is in the above picture.
