Out and About

The other night we met people we know from Regina for drinks and then supper!!  Lots of fun!

First, drinks at Picasso in Coronado.

Then a delicious supper at Bien Cocina, also in Coronado.

Kelsey and Addison had the pizza, made in the oven, just
behind them, and we had the fish, corvina.  Delicious!!

Butterfly Farm

We went to the small town of El Valle, which is up in the hills, and nestled in the valley of a huge extinct volcano, so the temperatures are a bit cooler.  We snooped around the shops, but didn't find anything interesting to buy.  But, we did hear of a newly established butterfly farm, so we were off in search of it.  We were given directions, but still couldn't find it, but many thanks to Hoss, who was determined to search it out, eventually, and by chance happened to stumble across it.  I guess someone stole their sign, and a new one was being made!!  We were glad we found it...very enjoyable!

My favourite... the blue morph.  If ever in need of a good movie
watch, The Blue Butterfly, which is based on a true story.
                                         It's heart warming, and endearing!

                                          Our guide, Orlando.

At the end of the tour you are welcomed to stay for a drink
                                         and a snacky.

Black Sand Beach

We went to the closest beach to our house, but were unable to go into the water because of jellyfish.

Panama Canal

This is our third trip to Panama, and we have finally toured the canal.  We had an awesome day!!  I just hope the kids didn't get too burnt!!

The other tour boat.  Ours was smaller.

                                           Enjoying the sun!

                                         Bridge of Americas.

The ship we shared the locks with.

                                          Efficient tugboat!

Panama Canal Museum.  We have been to the museum in the past,
but did not see a ship come through the locks.

Precious Cargo

Using GPS on my phone, we found our way to the airport quite easily to pick up our precious cargo!!  We were very excited to see Addison and Kelsey, and so happy they were able to get some time off for a vacation!

Panama City Skyline

Taken from the Amador Causeway.

Latin American Iron Man Contest

We had to make a trip into Panama City to pick up our son Addison, and his girlfriend, Kelsey from the airport the other day.  We made arrangements to also tour the Panama Canal, so a hotel and tour was booked ahead of time.  We went to the city with plenty of time to spare because of traffic, unfamiliarity to the area, and to check out where the tour departs from on the Amador Causeway,  and to find and check into our hotel.  Traffic was backed up and tons of people were milling about because of the triathalon being held in the city that day.  It was a curious thing to watch with runners coming in, in all stages of exhaustion!  We parked the car and had to take a look!

Street food being sold at the race entrance.

                                          The finish line.

                                          The reward!

A couple of pools to cool down in if needed!

The medic tent, if needed!! IVs and wet towels!
Now for some food, drinks, and merriment!!
