Night Noodle Market

The Night Noodle Market hosts a range of high quality food vendors from a hawker-style market in Auckland's Victoria Park. The food is Asian based and varies from grilled barbeque meat, dumplings, curry, noodle dishes, soups, icecream, beer, soft drinks and water.  I ordered the dumplings and Hoss ate Pad Thai and both dishes were delicious.

Victoria Park

Victoria Park has a large grassy area for all types of people to enjoy.  There is a night market at one end, with shops, and restaurants across the street.  We saw some young men getting ready to play rugby, and bagpipers practicing their songs, while many people were coming and going from the night market.

Old Car Garages

Just down the road and around the corner from us are some small, quaint, old car garages.  I liked them immediately when I saw them!

To close the garage there is a door that slides on a rail then swings in an arc at the doorway.  Quite ingenious!

Auckland CBD

With travel exhaustion, and too tired to sleep, our restlessness took us for a walk to Auckland's central business district.  Beautiful old buildings can be seen throughout the area we are staying in.

Auckland has a few Christmas decorations throughout the city, but it sure doesn't feel like Christmas!
And, I haven't seen any homes decorated.

An Auckland Breakfast

We arrived early morning in Auckland, too early to get into our room.  We stowed our luggage at reception, went for a walk, and found a pleasant restaurant, and had a bite to eat.

New Grandson

We are already missing this little sweetie!!

New Zealand December 2017

We arrived in Auckland, New Zealand after 22 hours of traveling from Regina to Calgary to Vancouver to Auckland.  The flight from Vancouver to Auckland was 14 hours.  We arrived at 5am and flew through security and customs, caught the metro bus, and got off a couple blocks from our accommodations.  With our room not being ready, we stored our luggage, and went for a bite to eat.  We soon were notified that our room was ready.

We are in a small, basic, shared apartment, and our flatmate is a young, friendly woman from Chili whose name is Karla, and her boyfriend Fransico. We share the common area but have our own bedroom and bathroom. The apartment is very close to the university so there are a lot of young people in this area, and  for the next 7 days we will call this place home!
