Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring

Life back home is easing into a routine for both us, waiting for the weather to warm up!

Winter Festivities on Crooked Lake

The fishing derby was held on a glorious day! It was cancelled last weekend due to a raging snow storm, and reschuled to the next weekend. The day time temperatures ran around 8 degrees Celsius. Never being to a fishing derby, we headed down to the lake for lunch and a sleep over, and to see what this derby was all about.

I was totally stunned how well planned and organized this event was. We ate, then walked around the fishing grounds to where the 400 drilled holes were, and were the fishers were trying their best to catch the largest fish. It took us 90 minutes to walk around. We met old and new friends, chatted, laughed, watched as fish were reeled in and either thrown back or taken for a measurement. The prize money was $1000 for the largest fish in each category, and lots of prizes for the kids.

I thought we would be trudging in calf deep snow to get to the derby. I was surprised they even pushed snow for a parking lot. What a lot of fun we had!

Our good friend Rico, trying his luck for the big one.

Here are the young guys, friends of our son, who plan the fishing derby every year. Well done!

Life Just Keeps Chugging Along

We headed home early this year, unusual for us, but it had to be. Hoss's dad, a well admired and respected man of nearly 95 years, sadly passed away. His last hurrah was well attended. It was a gathering for family and friends to reacquaint, and spend time together. Many laughs and tears were shed with comforting memories. You will be greatly missed, Harold, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, and friend to many!

After the finalities of Harold's funeral celebrations, a joyous event happened...the birth of our little granddaughter, Mae. Welcome to the world little one!

Our son, Addison, and his beautiful family! Kelsey, Addison, Halie, Max, and Kaiden.

Birthday Celebrations

We shared birthday celebrations we dear friends, on our last evening in Zihua. We tried Gaviotta, at the end of La Ropa. The attention, food, views and company was excellent! Thank you Randy and Marie for joining us! See you next year, Zihua!

Chili Fest

During Sailfest, one of the many events planned is a chili cookoff. It's a fun event, with many chili dishes to taste test. It is always very busy, and you have to muscle your way in. Beer is also sold, which is a godsend because this afternoon was quite hot.

Sailfest in Zihuatanejo

Sailfest is a two week long festival with events to raise money to support the education of local impoverished children. Friends of ours who are very involved with the planning and hosting of this event asked if we would be willing to help out on one of the sailboats. Our duties would be to decorate the boat with balloons, serve champagne and appetizers to guests while it sailed around the bay, and to cleanup at the end. Having hosted many parties, the job sounded like a breeze, and it was! Thank you to Tim and Ann for asking us! We had a wonderful time. And a big thank you to Captain Bill for volunteering his boat!
