Christmas Day

Our friends, Claude and Lynne, hosted a Christmas celebration with a pool party, and served a meal of spaghetti and meat sauce with a variety of salads. Presents were exchanged and laughter was had. What a wonderful Christmas!

                                              Claudio the master spaghetti cooker!

                                          My fun friend, Alice!

Our gifts: lotion, vanilla, restaurant gift certificate, and cheese.

Christmas Eve at El Viejo Restaurant

This was our first visit to El Viejo Restaurant located on a small side street in the area of Madera in Zihua. The food was delicious and plentiful. The restaurant was fully reserved, but we were able to get a table with ease because the Mexicans eat quite late on Christmas Eve.

Pretty Christmas Streets

The small city of Zihua has been busy decorating the town for Christmas. The streets twinkle and glitter during the evening setting everyone's mood in the Christmas spirit.

I was looking closely at the manger scene and noticed that the baby Jesus was missing. He gets placed in the manger on Christmas day.

Not a Christmas scene, but a pretty street. Zihua has several of these decorative streets throughout the town.

A glittery arch over a walkway that spans the storm canal.

I had a good chuckle when I saw these snowmen.

Thai Food

My favourite soup is a Thai dish called Tom Yum Kung, and we found a restaurant that serves a few Thai dishes, at a hotel Bungalows Vepao on Playa La Ropa. Hoss had Pad Thai, and I had the soup. Our meals were absolutely delicious!

I could live on this soup!

Beach Activities

We shared our love of this beach with Claude's brother, Paul. He had some of trouble finding the beach, but he persevered using a few different cabs!! I'm sure he was glad he didn't give up on his quest to find this beach.

Turtle tracks! It looks like a mama turtle was busy shortly before we arrived. The hatchlings should be digging their way out of the sand and making their way to the beach in a few weeks.

An Exploring Afternoon

We love to hit the road and snoop around. We do this every year, and there's always something new to see.

A picture of a small portion of the shops on Cinco de Mayo selling colourful Christmas pinatas.

A fancy schmancy high-end coffee shop called Cuattro Cycle Coffee and Tea. It's a proper shop with a door and AC. It sells gluten free bread products. We might be back for lunch sometime. Smells yummy!

Expansion is happening on the road from Playa La Ropa to the airport. I'm sure sure I like it. I love the quaintness of Zihua!

Road side stands on the way to Troncones.

The busy, small town of La Puerta that lies just east of Ixtapa.

Back road in Ixtapa heading to Playa Linda.

                                           Playa Linda

In 1996, when we were here with our kids travelling for a year in our motorhome, none of this existed! What a change! The only manmade structure was a small wooden pier.

Room for rent! I love it!

We certainly got hosed at this restaurant. So unfortunate. We usually come with a tribe of people who spend a lot of money on food and drinks, and are usually repeat customers if treated fairly. This restaurant will be passed by. Sorry SusieQ, but not sorry, your financial opportunity just got blown away. We'll pass you by on our way to Enramada Brisas del Mar next time we are at Playa Linda.
