Zihuatanejo Pickleball Anniversary

Emanuel, our guru, hosted a pickleball anniversary. We had a wonderful afternoon learning how pickleball began in Zihua, watched a couple of games of pickleball with players who are rated at a 5.0 (top-shelf...you can't get any higher than that), and of course ate some delicious tacos that were made by Ana, Emanuel's wife, and drank and couple of beer.

Just some people enjoying a causal game before the proceedings started.

Emanuel has entered the US open which will be held in April.

And this is the gal who started it all, Patty from Kelowna. She said when she was coming to Zihua 8 years ago, a friend wanted to play some pickleball. So, they brought down a net, balls, and paddles. They set up in this court and through the course of their games she met Emanuel who was at the court to play basketball. Emanuel took an interest in the game and Patty said he was like a fish who takes to water. He caught on fast and showed he had a talent for the sport. So, they left all the pickleball equipment in Zihua, and the following year added to the collection.

Tanya, a business woman in Zihua. She owns a couple bars and a restaurant. She lives in our area.

And, the game is on! It was sheer delight to watch these talented players. Emanuel and Elin are taking on 2 other players who I don't know. All rated at a 5.

Alin, her dad Victor, and Claude. We hope to see Alin on TV someday playing in a tournament. She is absolutely an amazing player and she's only 12.

                                          Jamie and his daughter

A favourite couple Chris and Atela.
We have met a ton of people through Pickleball.
