Monday Market

Monday Market is mainly for the locals in Koh Lanta. It's definitely not for me! A lot of meat is sold, including organ meats, fish, whole chickens that include the head and feet, also durian which is a very stinky fruit and to boot this market is located beside a body of water that is black, and I don't want to know what that is all about!! We bought our much desired limes and left. I think I held my breath for the entire time!! Total yuck fest!!

Beers on the Ocean

Before going for supper one evening we went down to the water front, snooped around, did some shopping and had a a beer to try and cool down before going to eat.

Brooms

I remember the our first trip to Thailand and being amazed at their brooms. They are still being sold, and Thais use them all the time.

Take a Trip to Old Lanta

Old Lanta is a small, 100 year old town that lies on the southeast side of Koh Lanta. It is a sleepy town that has a western look. It has a lot of shops for browsing, and a few stilted, shoreline restaurants. I felt very hot and languished by the time we got here and wasn't much in the mood for shopping. A beer in a restaurant by the ocean was a much better idea!

On the way to Old Lanta we took a wrong turn, and ended up stopping here, at a fishing hole and mini golf attraction, for a rest and a break from the sun! We met a French couple and had quite a chat!

Magestic Beach Bar

We found this little gem at Klong Nin Beach about 15 minutes south of us. The whole west side of Koh Lanta's beachy shoreline is dotted with funky, bamboo restaurants and bars.

Long Beach, Koh Lanta, Krabi, Thailand

The beaches in Koh Lanta lie on the lovely Andaman Sea. The water tends to get bit rougher in the afternoon, making swimming more possible earlier in the day. The weather is steamy hot and when at the beach we take refuge in the shade and ocean.
