Reaquainted

Our time spent in Playa Del Carmen was wonderful mostly due to reconnecting with old friends.  Louie and Selena Redenbach, who have been coming to Playa Del Carmen for a few years now, showed us how they do Playa.  Because of them we got to know Playa better and faster, we were introduced to friends of theirs, and made our experience with Playa much richer.  We had a great time with Louie and Selena and shared a lot of laughter!!

Sharing a meal and an experience with the Redenbach clan.

Cave Drinks

Playa Del Carmen is split in half by the highway that runs from Cancun to Belize.  If you venture onto the west side of the highway you will be pleasantly surprised how new and modern that part of the city is(I was expecting a much older, and poorer side of Mexico).  Anyways, there is a unique restaurant that is housed in a cave.  We went for evening drinks, and had a wonderful time!

No, it's not a spider, only a mangrove root!

Romeo"s

A great place for supper in Playa Del Carmen is Romeo's if you like Italian.  We had a great meal, and the place was packed.  You may have to stand and wait for a table like we had to.

Coffee Daze

We have had a couple of cloudy, rainy days, that left us wondering what to do.  So we snooped around coffee shops, shopped, walked, and drove.

Taqueria El Fogan

A taqueria is a Mexican taco restaurant.  There are many to choose from in Playa del Carmen and we chose El Fogan, and it was el deliciouso!

The menu was all in Spanish and we had no idea what to
order so we asked for our waiters recommendation.

A super tasting bean soup was served before the
main course which was 2 porkchops(I ate one already
by the time I remembered to take a picture), guacamole/chips,
green pepper and cheese, tomatoe slices, potato with sour cream,
roasted green onions, and a stack of tortillas we never touched.
                                       Way too much food!

Beach Art

There is a building site on the beach, and it is protected with a wooden wall.  Artists have taken the time to use their talents, to create a unique piece of art that is also used as a conversation piece, and a landmark for beachgoers.

When we go to the beach we know that Louie and Selena
Redenbach will be sitting in front of the blue whale!
                                           Great meeting spot!

Puerto Morelos...Revisited

We keep coming back to Puerto Morelos, we always find a reason.  Today, was Mara pottery, recommended by a friend, but it's also the beach, the restaurants, the quaintness, the relaxed atmosphere.  We returned to a favourite restaurant for shrimp ceviche, guacamole with chips, and beach loungers.  Great afternoon!!
