Museum Day

The day started out rainy, and only got worse as the day wore on.  With two museums in Oranjestad, we decided to go to both.  The first on is the Museum of Archeology, and the second was Fort Zoutman.

The National Archaeological Museum Aruba has a collection of artifacts that spans from 2500BCE to the 19th century.

                                          Two forms of burial.

                                           A cistern.

Fort Zoutman is the oldest building in Aruba.  Unfortunately, there was very little information about the fort.  But, we did learn through other people that there was land reclamation from the sea during the 50's that presently places the fort about two blocks back from the ocean.

                                          The fort is very small.

The museum was exhibiting Aruba's hat making era.

Bingo Cafe and Restaurant

We had a delicious meal in the high rise district at a restaurant called Bingo.  Hoss had a hamburger, I had the grouper, and we shared a salad.  We had a lovely evening!

Sunset at Palm Beach

We watched the sunset at Palm Beach on the pier while having a beer called Amstel Bright.  The beer was cold, and the sunset beautiful!

Aruban Archetecture

Here are a few buildings that I found charming in Oranjestad.

Eagle Beach Revisited

So far Eagle Beach is our favourite beach.  The sand is unbelievable, so soft, white and clean!!  Eagle Beach is in the low rise district where the time shares are found.

There is some lava rock at the far end of Eagle Beach.

Palm Beach

Palm Beach is in the high rise district where you will find the all inclusives.  The beach is narrow, so it is crowded with people, but the water is calm, making swimming possible.

We always see something new at the beach.  This board is propelled forward using a stepping action.
