Night Time Beach Walk

One evening, we decided to go for a walk on the beach starting at the far end of Playa la Ropa by Rossy's restaurant. Unfortunately, we quickly encountered a crocodile on the beach in front of El Manglar. We hastily turned our heels and headed back to the main road to where  our motorbike was parked. We drove to the opposite end of the beach to continue our walk where we were more unlikely to meet up with a croc. This area is full of crocodiles up and down the coast. One should always be aware of their surroundings night and day, not only because of the crocodiles, but there are also nesting turtles that come onto the beaches to lay their eggs who shouldn't be disturbed.

As our beach walk continued, we encountered more wild life, but of the human kind. A boisterous Mexican wedding was being held on the beach at La Perla with lively entertainment. Music, food, flowing drinks, fire dancers, and fireworks entertained the many guests that came to honor the newly married couple. I'm sure some Papa spent a few pesos for this wedding!

With the beach being this dark, I wasn't too anxious to get a picture of the crocodile!

Jungle Pizza

We always love going to Jungle Pizza for a meal. I'm not sure if it's because of the friendly owner, Reuben, or the location, or the delicious food, or the lively atmosphere of the restaurant. But, we always have a great meal, and thoroughly enjoy ourselves.

Fresh Fish

You just never know what you are going to see while walking down the street!  Someone is going to have a delicious meal sometime today!

Poinsettias

Decorations for Day of the Dead has been taken down and packed away until next year.  We are now beginning to see Christmas displays. One of the prettiest sights are the poinsettias that are located at Kioto Circle. These plants are so beautiful that I might just have to buy one!

Storm Canal Croc

Zihua has a storm canal to help prevent flooding. The last few months the weather has dumped a lot of rain into this area including a hurricane named Rick. The canal is still running with water and the other day a local drew our attention to a small crocodile hiding out in the shelter of the canal.

Playa Majahua Revisited

Playa Majahua is always a favouirte of ours! Quiet and gorgeous!

I found this little dude in the sand.

Banditos

We were invited to an evening of music at a restaurant called Banditos. A couple of fellow pickleball players were providing entertainment for a couple of hours. Many people come here to watch sports and it is usually very full of patrons.

Aline, pickleball player extraordinaire and vocalist.

Aline and her parents, Meriam and Victor

Blanca, David's wife who extended and invitation to us.

And on the guitar and vocals, David, accompanied by Aline. We met David on the pickleball court.

Baracruda's

We had an excellent meal at Barracruda's. We usually come to this establishment to have a fun evening of music and dancing, but the owner, Chayo, has recruited a fabulous chef from another restaurant and is now offering meals.

Turtle Release at Playa Blanca

We attended a turtle release that included an educational presentation conducted by a gal named Judy who originally is from Buchanan which lies about a couple hours north of Melville. It was well worth the visit, and we'll probably do it again!

We were given 2 babies each and were allowed to release them on the beach. No touching allowed!

After the turtles have been laid, volunteers dig them up and relocate them to a safe location.  The turtle nests are then shaded to help produce more males since the warming temperatures are currently producing more females.

Judy's presentation was extremely informative, and well delivered! The tour is free but a 200 peso per person donation is encouraged. There is also a small shop to buy t-shirts, bags, and small souvenirs.

For some odd reason my pictures for this post ended up in the reverse position. It might make more sense to view the pictures from the bottom to the top.

Another Beach Day!

We can't seem to get enough of the sun, sand, and surf. It's always a wonderful way to spend a few hours of the day sitting at the beach, enjoying the fresh air, meeting new people and spending time with old friends.

Busy Market Morning

The street market always seems to be busiest in the morning. There is always an abundant supply of fresh fruits, veggies, and meats. I love the hustle, bustle and energy the market gives off in the morning.

Playa La Ropa

We headed to Patty's restaurant on Playa la Ropa to spend the afternoon. Cold drinks and a tasty appetizer and a few rays, but I really don't think the crowd is for us!
