Dog Pack

A pack a dogs trotting down the street is a bit of an unusual site even for present day Mexico. This is a recent event because of a fire that destroyed 120 homes up in the hills of Zihuatanejo which chased the dogs down to Zihua Central.

Shipment Day

Street hawkers and small shops loading up their wares!

Zihuatanejo Central

We spent our first morning walking around Zihuatanejo Central. There are many shops, restaurants, small bars, bright colours, and busy with people and traffic. We rediscovered some old haunts from our previous trip in 2016. Feels like home! Such a lovely area!

Breakfast

We usually cook up our own breakfast, but with a move in accommodations in a couple of days we decided not to buy any groceries. We found a great little restaurant called El Sabon de Zihua for breakfast. Great food, and large portions!

Villa Lupita

We are quite enjoying our little apartment. It comes with a small kitchen, gigantic bathroom, king-sized bed, Mexican TV, balcony, small pool, and a wonky key that gives us grief whenever we want to come home! The area is busy with chattering people, and traffic. The roosters are well behaved, and only crow in the early hours of the morning, but the dogs can be annoying with their loud barking during the night when we are trying to sleep. Yesterday, I saw this one dog trotting down the street with a rat in its mouth!! Yikes!

Our 2019 Adventures...Mexico, Australia, India, Greece

Zihuatanejo, Mexico

Our trip this year is a bit broken up. Hoss's dad will be turning 90 in February, and we wanted to be home for his big shin dig. We planned a trip to Mexico first, so we would be close to home making travel easier, and cost efficient. We will be spending six weeks in Zihua. This will be our third time to this quaint, bustling city. Our first experience in Zihua was in 1996 on our year long motorhome trip. I can safely say there has been a huge change to this area since then.

We are staying in an area called Madera, in a small apartment block called Villa Lupita. We are here for three nights, then move into a small hotel called Hotel Salinas. Villa Lupita is lovely, spacious, and close to the beach, but not so good if you want to meet people. We may be giving up elbow room, for friendliness, I guess we will see tomorrow when we move.
